Stories

ȺAV Gallery is proud to host Farah Khan's latest exhibition, The Art of Style, consisting of 30 couture pieces from the Farah Khan Couture Maîtres de l'Art Collection. Each individual piece is inspired by specific artworks by certain masters of the 20th century, including Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse. Inspiration from these masterpieces translates into the richly embellished skirts and evening gowns embroidered with a myriad of jewel-toned beads, individually handcrafted by Southeast Asian artisans.

The FARAH KHAN label was established to cater for women who desire luxe richness. After a decade of dressing international celebrities on red carpets, from Paris Hilton to Mariah Carey, the focus shifted to couture. Twice a year, two finely curated collections will be shown to exclusive clientele. In the vein of the French couturiers, each collection will showcase 20 to 30 one-off pieces that are constructed with the finest materials, silks, satins and velvets.

Farah Khan has also taken a great deal of inspiration from the artworks housed at ȺAV Gallery. In particular, ten Warhol-inspired bomber jackets have been created that reflect the artist's engagement with commercial, political and popular culture in the well-known Ads portfolio, which will be on exhibit at ȺAV Gallery. Lorenzo Quinn's work The Four Loves has also been translated into a jacket, in another example of her enchanting wearable art.
